Germany has a decentralized education system with responsibilities shared between federal and state governments. Higher education follows the Bologna Process, with internationally recognized Bachelor, Master, and PhD degrees. All public universities are state-accredited and free of tuition fees.
Early Childhood Education

Language Requirements
Germany offers over 1,000 English-taught programs at all educational levels. For German-taught programs, proof of German proficiency (TestDaF, DSH, Goethe-Zertifikat) is required. Many universities also offer preparatory language courses.

Academic Requirements
Bachelor Programs

Bachelor degree in a related field with minimum 180 ECTS credits. Admission often requires specific GPA (typically 2.5 or better).
Doctoral Studies
Master degree with strong academic record. Admission requires finding a supervisor (Doktorvater/Doktormutter) and developing a research proposal.
ECTS & Diploma Supplement
The academic year in Germany runs from October to March (winter semester) and April to September (summer semester). Full-time workload is 60 ECTS credits per year, with one credit representing approximately 25-30 hours of work.
Upon graduation, students receive a Diploma Supplement detailing their program structure, achievements, and acquired competencies. This makes German degrees easily understood and highly valued by employers and institutions worldwide.
